Organic raw propolis

Pure organic raw propolis, just as the bees collected it. The buds of certain trees are covered with a resinous patina: this protects them from pathogens, which could infect them. On hot summer days, bees take this substance and collect it in small loads, which they transport, attached to their hind legs, to the hive. This substance is processed through their glandular secretions, partially modifying its chemical structure.       Of the vast range of properties of Propolis, bees use it above all for its antiseptic action, to neutralize fungi, bacteria and viruses, "painting" with it the internal walls of the hive and the bottom of the cells intended to house brood or honey. Bees also use propolis as a construction material, to plug the cracks in the hive, to fix the mobile elements of the hive, to reduce spaces that do not correspond to their innate sense of geometry and, where the entrance opening of the the hive is too large to block it with blocks of this material, leaving only the necessary space. Depending on the harvesting location, the color of propolis varies from yellow-green (when pines prevail) to reddish (prevalence of poplars) up to black (prevalence of birches) with all the possible shades between the different colors. So even the smell, very aromatic, changes based on the resinous substances present. The same goes for the flavor which ranges from the typical bitter-sour to sweet. The consistency of propolis instead depends on the environmental temperature, hard and brittle in the cold, propolis becomes malleable as soon as it is handled, a malleability that increases as the temperature approaches 30°C. Propolis contains 300 active molecules and is composed of 30% wax, contained in the propolis itself or secreted by bees, 50% resins and balsamic substances, 10% essential oils, 5% pollen and 5% organic or mineral materials. The most interesting component is given by flavonoids, which are plant chemical compounds widespread in higher plants and have multiple properties. There are different types of raw propolis: pure propolis from nets (which is free of any impurities and can be chewed directly) or from scrapings (it is scraped from the walls and frames of the hive; given that it may have impurities it is used exclusively for solutions, because carefully filtered). Our raw organic propolis in flakes is obtained through the positioning (in spring and/or late summer) in the hive (between the nest and the roof) of special small-mesh grids fixed on a frame. The bees, feeling the fresh air entering the hive from outside, collect the resin from the plants and form Propolis to close all the cracks. Once the work is completed, the nets are removed, placed in the freezers and, once cooled, the propolis, which has hardened in the cold, is carefully removed by hand. Over the years, the use of propolis has been overwhelmed by the massive diffusion of chemically synthesized drugs. Only in the last few years has the growing concern about drug abuse and the consequent reevaluation of natural therapies revived the interest of scholars and doctors in this ancient remedy offered to us by nature. USE ADVICE The raw, or pure, propolis is taken directly from the grids where the bees initially placed it. To be taken, it must be dissolved in the mouth (without chewing because it tends to stick to the teeth) for about 20-30 minutes, until completely absorbed.    Also excellent as an infusion in drinks. Dosage: up to a maximum of 1 gram, 3 times a day to be taken on an empty stomach.
