The Great Book Adventure

The book is divided into 24 double pages. Each profession, ten in total (counting the final reader), is presented through two double pages, following its arrival in the chain of the book. For each, the author Stéphanie Vernet alternates between a general presentation of the profession and shorter, very documented texts, providing us with a wealth of information and anecdotes about each. Chemin de fer, BAT, royalties, office, leporello... will have no more secrets for you. The reader thus discovers the missions of the various players in the book chain, while broadening his knowledge of the history of publishing. Each chapter includes concrete examples in France and abroad, from yesterday and today. In addition to its documentary dimension, the book offers the reader a real narrative: over the pages, he witnesses the birth of a new book, step by step. Thanks to Camille de Cussac's illustrations, each profession is embodied by a colorful and very identifiable personality, which we find from chapter to chapter, as the book is made, undone, adjusted, finally prints and appears. And we gradually understand that this book on which all these people are working is actually the one that the reader holds in his hands!
