Poster Rembrandt - Self-portrait as the Apostle Paul

It is a self-portrait of Rembrandt himself, wearing a white turban and holding a bundle of paper. Also through his open cloak is a sword that he wears on his chest. All these details point to the Apostle Paul, whose epistles were later included in the Bible and who is often depicted with a sword. Frederik Schmidt Degener was the one who first noticed this in 1919, until then it was known as self-portrait. Degener's thinking was confirmed in the early 1990s.
