Nicknamed “Tonda e gentile” (round and sweet), the Piedmont hazelnut is a delicious dried fruit with a subtle taste that is born and grows in the heart of the hills of the Piedmontese Langhe. It appeared for the first time in 1865 during the pastry creations of the carnival, when Turin pastry chefs used it as an essential ingredient in the creation of their Gianduiotti chocolates and the famous Gianduja. Since then, the Piedmont hazelnut has become a legend: it is appreciated and recognized by gourmets around the world as the indisputable "World Queen of Hazelnuts".
