In 1865, to allow the passage of the waters of the Durance on the lands of the Marquis de Boisseul, a long earth aqueduct was built. From then on, an agricultural estate was born, it developed over the generations while retaining the name that allowed its creation.

The Cauvin family has been working the lands of Mas de l'Aqueduc since 1965, at that time the estate practiced traditional polyculture, meadows, vines, sheep breeding and cereals. He gradually specialized in the cultivation of hay from Crau
Located on the border between the old and the young Crau, on superficial and very stony clay-limestone soils, our natural meadows extend over more than 100 hectares. The oldest date back 150 years when the Rageyrol de Vergières irrigation canal was created.

Sowing is spontaneous thanks to the waters of the Durance in summer, and to grazing in winter by sheep herds. Every year, there is an exceptional and balanced floristic diversity between legumes and grasses.

The 3 cuts of hay are made between May and September. The dry and windy climate makes it possible to harvest quality fodder that is very palatable and rich in mineral salts. The 4th cut will be intended for grazing sheep from October. We are members of the Foin de Crau committee and have followed the AOC specifications since its creation.
