A very early, hardy variety with rapid growth, Vit lamb's lettuce has good resistance to temperature fluctuations and is very productive. ­ With its beautiful rounded, dark green leaves, it is the essential autumn and winter salad. Although resistant to cold, a cover with a frame or tunnel in winter allows harvesting throughout the bad season. Sometimes called lamb's lettuce, lamb's lettuce does not require any specific soil preparation; simply hoeing the surface is enough to allow the lamb's lettuce to grow. Lamb's lettuce rosettes are eaten raw, in salads, alone or mixed with lettuce, beetroot, etc. Or cooked like spinach. Lamb's lettuce appreciates walnut oil which brings out its nutty flavor, however it does not appreciate excess vinegar which should be used sparingly. From July to September: Sow in furrows 20 cm apart, preferably in a shaded area of the vegetable garden. Bury under two millimeters of soil. Pack down firmly. Weed and hoe regularly to keep the soil perfectly clean. Renew sowing several times during this period to ensure continuous production.
