A little history:
At Herman, the passion for hats has been passed down from father to daughter, which is why the family business is still run today by a descendant of Justin Herman, the founder of the hat shop. The story goes that the Herman hat shop was born from a chance encounter, on board one of the first Belgian trains in 1871, between Justin Herman and a hat merchant. The latter thought that the railway would mark the end of his career, while Mr. Herman, on the contrary, saw it as a great opportunity to expand and export. For three years he traveled the world, first visiting the major European capitals, then his journey took him to the east coast of the United States in cities like Boston and New York. This is where a large part of the designs in his first collection were inspired, by the different styles of headgear that each profession and each community proudly wore. The caps of Irish dockers, the felt hats of underworld bandits, the elegant wide-brimmed hats of wealthy New Yorkers. Returning to his village in April 1874, Justin Herman, his head full of ideas, began producing hats and caps, soon followed by many other models. Herman Hat Shop has grown over the years, continually adapting to changes in the industry while maintaining its unique family tradition.
Led by Hélène Herman, the company continues to expand both through the diversification of its business and the opening of new points of sale.Herman is a Belgian and international reference in terms of variety of hats and accessories
