Hand painted opal glass with red flowers

Wonderful opal glass vase made with artisanal methods i early twentieth century. Opal glass is obtained by mixing glass with calcium carbonate to reproduce the whiteness of Chinese porcelain. Invented around to 600 it reached great diffusion during the Napoleonic period in France, Germany and England. This case is completely hand painted with a thick drawing of branches and flowers
