The filling of buckwheat hulls provide optimal support to the spinal column and are moisture-regulating and grounding. The fabrics are woven by women in a workshop, which provides jobs for women who find it difficult to find work elsewhere (e.g. they employ about 10 deaf women). In the Netherlands, the poufs are filled with buckwheat hulls by people who gain work experience at a reintegration company.
