In Thailand, celadon was first made in Sukhothai - the capital of the first Thai kingdom. Today, the highest quality artistic celadon ceramics in Thailand are produced in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. IATITAI celadon bowls are made from locally sourced raw materials, hand carved and fired at 800° in the floral pattern of Pud Tan, the Thai word for sacred flower. The clay is glazed with wood ash combined with surface soil collected from local rice paddies, giving the high-quality ceramic the unique shades of green that are so characteristic of celadon design.
