INA TOSHA - the brand name comes from the Swahili word "inatosha" and means: "it's enough" in the sense of "you don't need more".
How the idea came about.
The idea came up during our vacation in November 2016 when Seremon, our first "Maasai business partner", unexpectedly showed up on the beach to say "thank you". During the time we lived in Kenya in 2013/14 we bought around 200 bracelets from Seremon as gifts for friends and family - simply because we liked them. We didn't think much about it. But when he visited us, he told us that thanks to doing business with us, he was able to acquire necessities for his family, such as a few cows, which are still a livelihood for the Maasai today. He was also able to open a small shop in his home village. So by buying the tapes that the women of his family and village produced, we made it possible for him to stay with his family instead of leaving them to earn money on the distant beach.
The realization.
We thought: if it is so easy to help a person to set up their own business - namely to sell nice things in Germany - then we should set up a small business ourselves. We knew people at home liked the tapes. We thought the same for the Kikois, i.e. cotton (hand) towels. Very nice in design and of very good quality.
That's how we founded INA TOSHA.
