After graduation in 2012 at the School of Arts Utrecht (NL), Judith was selected for the ‘Lichting’: twelve of the best graduates had the opportunity to show their collection during Amsterdam Fashion Week. One year later she decided to start her own label under the name JUDITHvanvliet. Several high fashion collections followed together with fashion shows and expositions in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgian and Slovenia.
As a designer, Judith creates her own world within her concepts. Each collection or item contains a story, from a little personal story to social and environmental issues: her fashion is much more than just clothes. To empower her stories, she is always looking for the right materials. That's why Judith finds it challenging to combine conventional clothes with unconventional materials and shapes, resulting in collections that can be both clothes and art. Judith then makes a small edition of each collection of all wearable items for sale. Everything is manufactured in our own studio, in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Sustainability is one of Judith's key points. The fashion industry must become more sustainable, both for people and the environment. That is why Judith only works with sustainable fabrics, which she selects with great care. In addition, the items are not designed on the basis of trends, so that the items do not only have to last 1 season, but can last for years: The items are timeless. In addition, Judith's designs are elegant, feminine and yet tough.
besides designing clothes, Judith is also a fashion illustrator. She initially draws the illustrations by hand with ecoline and pen and then edits them on the computer. The results are beautiful graphic illustrations.
