Artist and visual teacher Laura van de Wiel (1986) lives and works in Breda under the name LauwPauw.
Connection is an important theme in her work. In order to fully experience our humanity, we need our feeling, creativity and connection to the greater whole.
Laura's work is inspired by the life force in nature. Everything that you can find in nature, we also find in our own feelings. We are always on the move, we drift with high waves to calm bays. From large icebergs to what lies deep within the bottom, hidden within ourselves.
We are a drop in the ocean, dependent on ourselves but still connected to the whole.
Everything stays in motion, which each time gives a new insight, height or depth, but also offers us a lifeline.
In the series "Atlas of the Ocean" the water is a symbol of our feelings.
In the collection "Hidden Worlds" (2021), Laura examines what is visible, will be revealed or will remain hidden and in what way we are all connected.
