Originally from northeast China. 
The word "apricot" is rich in history, it comes from a Roman nickname dating from antiquity: "Praecocum", which means early fruit, because the apricot tree flowers very early in spring. 
When the apricot was established in France, people gave it another, more poetic nickname, "the egg of the sun", since the apricot tree needs plenty of sunshine to grow and give the bright color to its fruits. .       Manola soft apricots are a specialty of pitted and rehydrated dried apricots originating from Turkey and processed in France.
