It originates from Gifu Prefecture, where artisans in the Oroshi district of Toki City have been firing distinctive Shino ware for centuries. Tsubaki means “camellia” flower in Japanese. The camellia is intricately woven into Japan’s cultural and spiritual life. Across the arts, it signifies admiration and respect. The flower embodies depth, self-reflection, and inner strength—qualities highly valued in Japanese culture. The fine, handmade prongs are carved out in a single piece of bamboo by craftsmen whose skills are past on from generation to generation.
