The compsognathus, from the compsognathidae family, is a small carnivorous dinosaur about one meter long that lived 155 to 150 million years ago. This biped had long hind legs as well as an even longer tail essential to its balance when it moved. Its long, slender hind legs allowed it to reach a maximum speed of 64 km/h. Its name, which means "delicate jaw", comes from its head, which is both narrow and long, ending in a slender snout.
