The Friesian is a breed of saddle and draft horse originating from Friesland, a province of the Netherlands... hence its name! He always wears a black dress and is therefore nicknamed "the black pearl". This very old prestigious horse has a turbulent history: first a war mount and then a trotting racehorse, it was threatened with extinction at the end of the 19th century because it was abandoned in favor of the heavy draft horse. Now protected, the Friesian is highly valued for shows and cinema due to its great elegance, its coat and its raised head carriage. The Friesian measures approximately 1.55 m to 1.65 m at the withers, and can even reach 1.75 m.
