The straw is made of 100% medical grade silicone and consists of 2 parts – a mouthpiece and a straight straw that reaches the bottom of the bottle. This allows children to drink in two ways: the straw can be used to drink by holding the bottle upright, but the straw can also be removed, leaving only the mouthpiece, and then the bottle can be used to drink by holding it at an angle. Unlike the original straw, the free flow straw does not have a valve, which allows the liquid to flow more freely through the straw. Pura bottles can be used to freeze liquid, use the silicone sealing disk, which is available separately. Do not overfill the bottle as the liquid will expand as it freezes (no more than 275 ml in the 325 ml bottle). Cleaning and sterilization All parts of the Pura bottles and accessories are dishwasher safe. You can also hand wash them with a mild soap and a bottle and teat brush. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents as these can damage the silicone parts. Accessories last longer if they are cleaned gently by hand. Pura products can also be sterilized. To do this, place the bottle and accessories in boiled water for 5-10 minutes after the pan has been removed from the heat and the water is no longer actively boiling. Silicone parts can also be sterilized in the microwave.
