Handwoven Scarf from Peace Silk / Eri Silk Gray Black Graphic Patterned - Architecture

This soft and elegant scarf is made from organic Eri silk. Along with Tussah silk, Eri silk is also a type of peace silk and is native to the northeastern state of Assam in India. The word Eri comes from “era” which means “castor oil” in Assamese. Because the caterpillars feed exclusively on the castor bean plant. In contrast to conventional silk processing, the caterpillars that spin the silk cocoons continue their life after metamorphosis as moths. This silk is in no way inferior to mulberry silk. It convinces with its soft grip, the matt, glossy and smooth surface and the animal-friendly and fair processing. This shawl features a graphic pattern reminiscent of abstract architectural blocks. Black, cream white and gray rectangles meet in rows. The ends form fringes. The pattern was created using the block printing technique, in which carved blocks of wood are used to transfer the desired motif to the textile surface. It is one of the traditional printing techniques in India. The yarn was spun by hand and processed into a scarf on hand looms. The weave is fine and noble. Traditional manufacturing methods are combined with a modern graphic design. This symbiosis makes this cloth a real work of art. Silk is also a very tear-resistant fiber that is durable. It not only gives the scarf its elegant shine, but also has the great property of temperature regulation, so that the scarf has a cooling effect in summer and a warming effect in winter. Whether for a special occasion or in everyday life - this scarf is a real eye-catcher.
