Rather Lather started really for my family to use in our home, both of my children have sensitive skin and eczema, I found it difficult to find products that didn’t irritate their skin. After researching and reading labels I was shocked at how many contained sulphates and other chemicals in the ingredients when they claimed to be mild, zero, or baby ranges. I decided to try and make my own soap from scratch, so I knew exactly what was going onto their skin.

I bought some equipment, did more research on soap making, not as easy as I thought! The cold process soap making method seemed to be possibly the hardest and most time consuming but this was completely from scratch, which is what I wanted, I felt if I was going to do this, it was important that I started from the very beginning. I followed recipes, read books, and after lots of trial and error, I made my first batch of handmade soap!

As well as not irritating my children’s skin, it was much softer and moisturised, this continued and was a real breakthrough! They would wake up previously in the night itching and needing to apply cream to take the irritation away, this just doesn’t happen anymore.

It’s incredible what a difference it made.
