The Sherkate Sahimi Farsh initiative played a key role in reviving carpet manufacturing across the country, specifically supporting weavers in Ilam. These efforts resulted in carpets from Ilam not having a long historical tradition, as no ancient examples exist. The design of the Ilam carpets draws inspiration from various Iranian origins and is particularly based on the designs of the renowned Isfahan and Sarough carpets. Despite being based on traditional patterns, Ilam carpets are characterized by their own color palette, which is characterized by softer and lighter tones, giving them a unique character.
