Piment Basque Salt

The Salt Azur "Piment Basque Salt" is a special taste experience for fans of southern French cuisine and our first variety of the Édition d'or. Piment Basque is a variety of chili grown around Espelette, a southern French village in the Pyrenees. The noble and precious pod, also called "Gorria" (Basque for the red one), delights star chefs around the world with its particularly aromatic, slightly smoky note. The sharpness level is between 1.500 and 2.500 Scoville. Since 2000, the name Piment d’Espelette has been regionally protected.  It is then given the designation AOP (French: Appellation d’Origine Protégée). Since we produce our salt mixtures in Germany, we have to use the name "Basque Chili" (Piment Basque).
