Piment Basque Salt

The Salt Azur "Piment Basque Salt" is a special taste experience for fans of southern French cuisine and our first variety of the Édition d'or. Piment Basque is a chili variety grown around Espelette, a village in the Pyrenees in the south of France. The noble and precious pod, also called "Gorria" (Basque for the red one), delights star chefs worldwide with its particularly aromatic, slightly smoky note. The sharpness level is between 1.500 and 2.500 Scoville. Since 2000, the name "Piment d’Espelette" has been protected regionally. It then receives the additional designation AOP (French. Appellation d’Origine Protégée). Our exclusive Piment Basque salt goes well with all dishes that tolerate a slight spiciness. A regional classic from the Basque Country is "Poulet Basquaise" (Basque chicken), which is seasoned with chicken, tomatoes, white wine, ham and Basque pepper.
