Bring natural elegance into your home with our hand-woven Gandaria basket. The stylish interplay of intense brown, natural banana fiber and striking white accents of embroidered cotton adds a touch of coastal flair to any room. The square basket not only ensures order, but also creates a relaxed, inviting atmosphere - ideal for a pleasant living experience. The decorative basket is available in two stackable sizes so that you can find the right solution for every storage need, whether it is for smaller things or larger items. It can also serve as a beautiful planter for plants. However, we think that thanks to its flat, angular shape, Gandaria fits particularly well in places on shelves or in niches. The robust banana fiber ensures that Gandaria is extremely durable, even with daily use. At the same time, it is still light and flexible. With the practical, sturdy handles, you can easily carry it around your home, even if it is filled to the brim with laundry, for example. The loose braided style allows for natural air circulation, which is ideal for storing textiles. Our baskets are elaborately handcrafted using traditional methods on the island of Java in Indonesia. We attach great importance to fair pay and good working conditions. The use of high-quality natural materials and the production by experienced artisans underline the sustainability and quality of this product. So you can be sure to get eco-friendly and long-lasting accessories for your home that help preserve cultural heritage in the form of beautiful handicrafts. Please also note our other offers - with us you will find many different baskets, home accessories and bags made from sustainable materials and fair production. ➤Our Gandaria storage basket at a glance • Bring beach elegance to your home: The trendy combination of natural banana fiber and white cotton embroidery creates a Mediterranean flair and transforms your home into a tranquil, beach-inspired oasis • Organize in style: No more scattered items - this basket offers a stylish solution to organize your things, and with the practical square shape it fits perfectly on shelves or niches • Stackable: The two sizes can be stacked to save space when not in use, keeping everything tidy • Practical handles: Easy-to-grip handles make it easy to carry the basket around the house even when fully packed • Lightweight but robust: Thanks to its light weight, the basket can be moved effortlessly, but thanks to the robust material it can also reliably withstand heavy loads • Available in two sizes, 35 (M) and 40 (L) 45 (L) cm wide • 100% handmade and fair trade • Lightning-fast shipping, lovingly packaged without plastic ➤ Dimensions & weight: M: 35x35x25 cm; 0.98 kg L: 45x45x27 cm; 1.99 kg (length x width x height without handle) Our products are lovingly made unique pieces. This abundant, renewable raw material comes from the banana plants that are widely used for agricultural purposes in Indonesia. The fibrous bark separates from the trunk as it grows, is then collected and dried in the sun for about a week, which naturally produces the intense brown color. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic strands, approximately 6 mm thick, which are processed into traditional basketry by our production partners in Java. Other materials: cotton, nylon thread ➤ Our production partners: Strictly selected according to fair trade criteria This basket is handmade in Java, Indonesia. When selecting our local production partners, we value fair pay, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses that have a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are exclusively adult and experienced artisans. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in handicrafts, as they can use the skills they learned at an early age to earn money and pass on traditional manufacturing methods to the younger generation. They often told us how happy they were to be able to create something meaningful and earn a good living through this work. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process hardly produces any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies. ➤The manufacturing process: From raw material to finished basket For our baskets, the experienced artisans at our production partners in the Indonesian province of Central Java carefully and with great sensitivity weave the banana fiber strands around a specially made wooden frame that precisely determines the desired shape and size of the basket. To ensure a stable and durable structure, the banana fiber is fixed with transparent nylon threads. In total, it takes about two hours to make a basket.
