•23 (S), 28 (M) or   35 (L) cm diameter • Made from stable, sustainable banana fiber and seaweed • With practical handles, perfect as a small decorative basket, for example in the kitchen • lovingly packaged plastic-free • 100% handmade and fair trade The decorative round Kutus basket has practical handles on both sides and is a great storage place for toys, firewood or magazines.   Its form factor also means it fits perfectly on most shelves.    Kutus comes in three different sizes.   Its natural combination of materials impresses with its contrasting composition of red-brown banana fiber and beige seagrass fibers. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Mass weight: (Height (without handles) x diameter) S: 11x23cm; 0.34kg M: 12x28cm; 0.42kg L: 14x35cm; 0.72kg Our products are artfully crafted unique pieces.   Due to hand manufacturing and natural variations in materials, they may vary slightly in size, color and shape. -------------------------------------------------- ------------------- Main materials: seagrass, banana fiber Our baskets are made from plant fibers.   They therefore smell and feel wonderfully natural.    What basket makers usually call “seagrass” is actually not an (under)water plant, but a small, palm-like plant that is widespread on sandy beaches in the tropics of Asia.   The leaves of plants often cultivated by humans are separated, cut into strips, dried and then further processed by hand.    Banana fiber is the fibers of the layered trunks of agriculturally used banana trees.   The intense brown color occurs naturally when the fibers are dried under the sun for about a week.   The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands.   Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material.   This gives these crops a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust starting material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.
