Whether in the living room, bedroom or hallway – the rectangular mirror immediately makes your home appear more inviting and personal. Kirana impresses with its selected materials: The natural materials seaweed and cotton come from ecologically responsible, local production. The high-quality, thick glass offers crystal-clear reflection and is particularly shatter-resistant. The two practical eyelets on the back allow for quick and easy installation in portrait or landscape format – a hook or nail is all it takes. Our mirrors are manufactured in small Indonesian workshops under conditions that we personally monitor on a regular basis. This means not only fair wages that enable artisans to support their families, but also a working environment that guarantees safety, respect, and appreciation. At the same time, production supports the preservation of traditional craft techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. With every handmade product, we contribute to the preservation of this cultural heritage. The long, flexible leaves of the seaweed are carefully harvested by hand, cut into thin strips and then gently dried. This natural process gives the material its characteristic strength and resilient structure, making it ideal for the production of high-quality handmade products. Thanks to its natural beauty and environmental friendliness, seagrass is the perfect choice for stylish, sustainable accessories that combine aesthetics and responsibility. Other materials: Cotton, wood, glass ➤ The manufacturing process: From raw material to finished mirror Our Kirana wall mirrors are crafted by skilled artisans on the Indonesian island of Java. To do this, they first cut the seaweed fibers into narrow strips and weave them into the square wooden frame, which also houses the mirror glass. They then complement the decorative, traditional pattern of white cotton cords. Finally, the seaweed fibers are carefully trimmed with scissors so that the edges of the mirror are perfectly straight. In total, it takes about two hours to make a mirror. ➤Our production partners: Strictly selected according to fair trade criteria When selecting our local production partners in Indonesia, we attach importance to fair pay, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses that have a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are exclusively adult and experienced artisans. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in handicrafts, as they can use the skills they learned at an early age to earn money and pass on traditional manufacturing methods to the younger generation. They often told us how happy they were to be able to create something meaningful and earn a good living through this work. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process hardly produces any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
