Story & Process This collection was born from weeks of experimenting in Marrakech: 📏 measuring✂️ cutting🧵 testing stitches🫙 adjusting diameters🎨 selecting color combinations🤝 refining the design together with Ayoub, our textile craftsman I personally sourced all vintage hayks — all different, all vibrant — and Ayoub transformed them into bands and pouches that celebrate the tradition of Moroccan weaving. The result?A candle line that feels familiar and luxurious, but also warm, human, and deeply connected to the artisans behind it. NOUR stands for: ✔ Upcycling✔ Honest work✔ Fair craftsmanship✔ Color, culture, and connection✔ Inspired imperfection, the beauty of real handmade pieces Note: Our NOUR scented candles are proudly hand-poured in Belgium, using a natural blend of rapeseed wax and coconut wax. No paraffin, no shortcuts — only honest, sustainable ingredients that reflect exactly who we are and what SOUK in the CITY stands for. Why this blend? Rapeseed wax is a locally sourced Belgian product: sustainable, plant-based and exceptionally clean-burning.However, pure rapeseed wax can sometimes be a little too firm, which is why we add a touch of coconut wax: it softens the blend gives a smoother, more even surface helps reduce the risk of cracking as the candle cools A little nuance (and an important strength) Under very cold temperatures, small surface cracks or natural textures can still occur — a completely normal characteristic of plant-based waxes.Paraffin candles don’t have this, but paraffin is a fossil ingredient we choose not to use.
