Ornate Elle Showpiece

Our Ornate Elle showpiece from the Mughal Marvels collection is actually two figures in one, an elephant mother carrying an elephant cub inside. The mother elephant is handmade in traditional Jali style, with an intricate openwork cutting technique. The inner elephant is a solid stone figure. A symbol of the mother's love, this thick-skinned has a majestic appearance with a pair of carved bows on the head and intricate decorations that adorn the entire length of the trunk. The sculpture has been carefully carved out of a single boulder, an incorrect blow can mean that the work breaks and the craftsman has to throw the figure and start over.
