About Valhalla Mead
Brief history and origin of Mead.
Mead is the first alcoholic drink that was consumed by man in its origins, and is considered a precursor to beer and wine. In ancient times it was highly consumed and had a great diffusion among different peoples and cultures.
In Europe, it was made and drunk by the Greeks, Romans, Celts, Normans, Saxons, and Vikings; Julius Caesar himself made mead his favorite drink. In America, the Mayans consumed it with pieces of tree bark and in some of these cultures it was used to praise heroes and those chosen by the gods.
At Bodegas Valhalla years ago we decided to recover this lost historical drink and bring it back to our time.
Our mead is made with local honey, our own yeast and the character of the Seville water used in its preparation, together with a completely traditional recipe, allow us to offer a Mead full of nuances and faithful to the flavor of its origins.
