EXTRA PERLITE FOR BETTER DRAINAGE Since we cannot control the amount of precipitation when gardening outdoors, it can be useful to provide extra drainage. When coconut gets too much water, it can become too wet for the roots of the plants. The plants will then be able to grow anything but well and as a grower we naturally want to prevent that as much as possible. Wilma's Tuin has taken this into account, so that extra perlite has been added to the Cocolite-22. The drainage of the substrate improves considerably. Excess (rain)water can easily be drained away, so that the crop is not affected much by this. Due to the good drainage properties of Cocolite-22, this culture medium is also very suitable for cultivation methods in which the crops are supplied with water via an irrigation system. Because the plants are watered much more often with these cultivation methods, it is important that the excess water can easily drain away due to the airy structure of the substrate. The important characteristics of Cocolite-22 are therefore a high oxygen admissibility, optimum aeration of the substrate and rapid drainage of excess water! BETTER OXYGEN PERMISSION Anything that loosens and airs the substrate facilitates drainage of excess water and improves oxygen permeability. The extra added perlite granules to Cocolite-22 not only ensure good drainage, but also ensure a greater supply of oxygen in the substrate, so that plenty of oxygen can reach the roots of the plants. If the substrate cannot get rid of the excess rainwater, the roots can even suffocate if the substrate is too wet. HEALTHY ROOT SYSTEM The condition of a plant is largely determined by the quality of the root system. If the health of the root system is affected, the plant will also begin to decline. If the substrate as a basis is not good, the entire further growth stage of the plant will be difficult. It is known that 50% of the quality of a plant is determined by the quality of the root system under the ground. Only with a healthy and large root volume can a plant develop optimally. If the substrate in which the roots grow is not of the right composition, the roots will not develop sufficiently and the chance of successful cultivation has already been lost. To be sure that a substrate is of good quality and meets the needs of the plant, it is important to properly assess the substrate and pay attention to a quality mark. RHP MARK For Cocolite-22, the fibers that are in the bark of coconuts are used. These fibers naturally contain a high concentration of salt, because most coconut trees grow near the sea. Such high concentrations of salt are not suitable for growing plants and therefore the fibers are first washed well. After the salt has been washed out, the coconut fibers are cleaned of germs and/or vermin by means of hot steam. This special treatment largely determines the quality of the coconut substrate. Cocolite-22 has the RHP quality mark (Regeling Handels Potgronden), which guarantees that the coconut fibers have been washed, steamed and buffered in the right way. When buffering the coconut fibers, magnesium and lime are added to the water in which the fibers are washed. This addition already provides the right minerals! RHP quality mark Cocolite-22 bears the RHP quality mark. This guarantees a high quality coconut substrate. The coconut fibers have been washed, steamed and buffered in the right way, so that an optimal substrate can be guaranteed. Warning Keep out of reach of children. Not for consumption.
