This building, unique in its kind on the Ile-de-Ré, is probably dated from the 16th century. Identified by its corbelled corner turrets, it features a rich decor from the Renaissance period. Its first known owner is Etienne Buffechou, seneschal and judge of the seigneuries of Ars and Loix. It is in his memory that the name of Maison du Sénéchal was given to the building.
