The wholesale company was founded in November 1992 by Anton Schuster and Andreas Stöckel as AS Aquaristik OHG Fachgrosshandel (hereinafter referred to as AS) and was initially a pure family business (the two owners and their wives) for aquaristic products and accessories. The company was initially based in Friedberg near Augsburg, and stationary aquaristic shops in Bavaria were supplied with the company's own vehicles and by parcel service.
As early as 1994, the radius of action was extended to Austria, additional staff was hired, and it soon became apparent that the space available could not keep up with the rapid growth of the company. A new location was sought and found: Prittriching. In 1995 the new company building was moved there. Along with the business expansion, the pool of qualified employees also grew.
AS expanded steadily, followed by renting an external warehouse and in 2005, 2013 and 2017 the construction of further warehouses and in 2019 the purchase of the neighboring property together with the building and hall. AS now has around 10,000 square meters of storage space.
Over the years, the range has also been expanded to include terrariums and pets and is constantly growing.
In 2016, Anton Schuster took over the company share from his previous partner. AS was restructured and renamed AS Aquaristik & Heimtierbedarf, also because the range was no longer limited to aquaristics. Since then, the management has consisted of Anton Schuster and Florian Schmager.
While in the early years the goods were still delivered with our own fleet, this is now completely taken over by a wide variety of forwarding agents. Specialist shops (stationary and online) in the field of aquaristics / terrariums / pets are still supplied, as well as branches of retail chains and purchasing cooperations throughout Germany and neighboring countries.
The team of efficient employees - meanwhile more than 70 - ensures in all departments of the house that the customers are served in the best possible way: Thanks to constant investments and modernizations we can guarantee a fast dispatch and a high delivery capacity.
AS offers the customer a wide and deep range of goods for the aquaristic and pet sector. Customers can get many products from a single source, as AS offers a full range of products from all well-known aquarium manufacturers (who sell through wholesalers), supplemented by a steadily growing product range in the pet sector.
As of 2022, the product range includes around 10,000 items (over 5,000 of which are always in stock) from over 70 well-known manufacturers, e.g. Juwel-Aquarium, Dennerle, Chihiros, Eheim, Tetra, Sera, Dohse Aquaristik, Easy Life and Aquatlantis.
Another strength of the company is the range of spare parts for technical products from Eheim, Juwel, Aquael and other companies that is always in stock. We can obtain spare parts and items that we do not currently stock for you, provided the respective distributors cooperate with us.
Thanks to our many years of experience and professionalism, many manufacturers entrust us with the exclusive distribution of their products in Germany, including Dennerle, Aquatlantis, Chihiros, Easylife and Grässlin.
