The English bobbys are the slang term for police officers in Great Britain. 

The name comes from Sir Robert Peel, the founder of the London Metropolitan Police in 1829. 

Police officers are often referred to as "bobbies" or "peelers", after Sir Robert Peel. 

The London Metropolitan Police is one of the oldest police forces in the world and helped establish the concept of policing in the 19th century.
