Kidney Diet Beef

When renal function decreases, there is a flood of substances that require renal excretion in the blood, as the excretion rate of e.g.B. Urea, creatinine and phosphorus are reduced. In most cases, patients have already lost a noticeable amount of body mass by the time the diagnosis is made, as the high amount of substances in the blood that must be excreted in the urine leads to nausea and thus a reduced appetite. It is therefore particularly important to offer highly palatable food.In order to ensure the best possible nutritional supply, our wet food is characterized by a slightly increased fat content and a moderately reduced protein intake. A high quality of protein – in our form muscle meat – is preferred to offal. The wet food also impresses with a balanced ratio of phosphorus and calcium. This is necessary because the phosphorus content in kidney patients is usually too high and the formation of phosphorus-calcium complexes allows the excessive phosphorus content to be excreted more effectively. Another factor is that kidney patients have an increased renal loss - for this reason our VET kidney diet wet food has an increased amount of vitamins A and B to meet the needs. At the same time, the dog should always be provided with sufficient water to ensure regular “flushing” of the kidneys and thus flushing out of metabolic waste products. In order to encourage the kidney patient to eat, it may be useful to offer the food slightly warmed and also to divide it into 3 daily portions.
