Green, immature berries are harvested from peppercorn plants grown in Penja Valley in Cameroon. The peppercorn plants are grown in Penja Valley in Cameroon. The plants are naturally enriched with nutrients from the volcanic soil of Penja. Once the pepper berries are harvested, they are thoroughly sorted and washed in hot water by hand. Only grains of a black hue with some of a slightly brown variant are accepted. Penja pepper has specifically become popular amongst Michelin-star chefs for its signature taste.
