About the Philodendrom Selloum The Philodendron Selloum belongs to the Araceae family, one of the three Philodendron families and is the species with the largest leaves. This can grow on the ground, but also likes to climb, for example, a moss stick. When the philodendron is allowed to climb, it produces long aerial roots that also absorb water and nutrients. The philodendron grows very quickly! In its natural habitat it can grow to more than 10 meters tall with leaves of almost one meter! However, fortunately it will not grow that big in the living room and my leaves there will grow to a maximum of 30 to 40 cm. Easy to maintain The large leaves are thick and leathery, so they allow little moisture to evaporate. This means that this plant requires surprisingly little water. In South America it is usually nice and warm, so this plant cannot handle the cold well. Fortunately, our houses don't quickly drop below 15 degrees, so keep it indoors! This plant likes a lot of light and it makes it grow quickly, just be careful with the hot afternoon sun. Especially close to the window, burn marks can appear on the leaves!
