A little history:
At Herman Headwear, the passion for hat has been passed on from father to son, which is why the family business is still run today by a descendant of Justin Herman, the founder of the hat industry. The story goes that the Herman hat shop was born out of a chance encounter, on one of the first Belgian trains in 1871, between Justin Herman and a hat dealer. The latter thought that the railroad was going to sign the end of his trade whereas Mr. Herman, on the contrary, saw a great opportunity to expand and
be exported. For 3 years he traveled the world, first he visited the major European capitals, then his journey took him to the east coast of the United States in cities like Boston and New York. This is where a large part of the models in his first collection were inspired, by the different styles of headgear that each profession, each community proudly displayed. The caps of Irish dockers, the felts of the underworld bandits, the elegant hat of the wealthy New Yorkers. Back in his village in April 1874, Justin Herman, head full of ideas, started producing hats and caps, soon followed by many other models. The Herman millinery has grown over the years by continuously adapting to changes in the industry while retaining its own family tradition.
Directed by Alexandre Herman, the company continues its expansion both in the diversification of its activity and in the opening of new points of sale. Herman Headwear is a Belgian and international benchmark in terms of variety of hats and accessories
