Shetland Islands based textile designer, bringing a touch of Shetland style to your home through illustrated functional home products. Julie creates relatable nostalgic designs inspired by her treasured memories of Shetland life, each collection having its own story. Julie’s started her small business in 2011 when she moved back to Shetland after being away at University where she received a Ba Honours Degree in Textile Design. During her years studying away from home she developed her style of drawing and story telling through her work. Her designs often depict coastal and knitting themes, people have said they can relate to the scenes and they evoke memories within themselves. Julie hand makes all lampshades that are digitally printed onto organic sateen which gives a lovely soft shine when lighted up, she also hand makes all cushions the fronts are digitally printed onto cotton linen and the backs are made with Shetland wool tweed or cotton velvet. Kitchen textiles are 100% cotton and made within the U.K then hand finished, the bone china mugs and plates are printed within the U.K and hand finished as well as the place mats and coasters which are hard back, heat proof and gloss finish. Every product come with their own label sharing the story behind the design.
