Château De Pierreux "Terre de Pierreux" - Beaujolais Brouilly wine - Beaujolais red wine - Vintage 2019

Château De Pierreux "Terre de Pierreux" - Beaujolais Brouilly wine - Beaujolais red wine - Vintage 2019 grape variety 100% Gamay Geographic location The Beaujolais vineyard, very rugged, blocked by the first foothills of the central massif, overlooks the plain of the Saône between Mâcon and Lyon. Anchored at the foot of Mont Brouilly, the Château de Pierreux is one of the most beautiful residences in Beaujolais. Several centuries of history have shaped this old 13th century fortified house, two towers of which still remain. The Château de Pierreux has been remodeled several times over time. Its vaulted cellars date from the 17th century while the current building was built in the 19th century. Terroir The Pierreux vineyard extends over 106 hectares of vines rooted in soils of pink granite, schist, silica, dotted with blue porphyry stones, shallow and very filtering. Vine Planting density: 6,000 to 10,000 vines/ha Age of the vines: 42% of the plots are over 40 years old. Size: Tumbler and Cord Work philosophy: A culture in reasoned fight plot by plot. Everything is carefully analysed: the pressure of diseases, the number of insect pests and auxiliaries present in the agro-system of the plots, the size and number of bunches, the harmfulness of weeds, the state of the foliage of the vine, etc. . Soil work: stripping, scratching, blade between stocks. This philosophy meets 3 objectives: - Reason phytosanitary protection - Restore the physiological balance of the vine - Protect the environment Vinification and aging The grapes are destemmed at 80% then vinified in concrete vats. We applied a fairly long fermentation (about 8 days) and a traditional Burgundy maceration of 15 to 21 days. Aging in tuns lasts at least 6 months to develop the structure, smooth the tannins and allow micro oxygenation. 15% of the cuvée was aged in French oak barrels to bring velvety while preserving the finesse of this Brouilly.
