Lake District based artist Dan Bell has been drafting maps since the end of 2017. His first work, an emulation of Tolkien's Middle-earth, drew much online attention and since then he has gone on to specialise in the creation of maps covering real world places with a unique fantasy theme.
After graduating from Imperial College London with a Master's degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation, his chance success led him down a rabbit hole of creation which he now works on full-time. He now routinely draws maps for publishers, collectors and individuals all across the world.
Using nothing more than traditional drawing media - pens, ink, pencil - Dan's work encourages people to see the world in a slightly different way. Launched in 2019, his latest project 'My Favourite Square' aims to create small, hyper detailed maps of unique and personal places.
