In 1992, inspired by adventure, an army officer and a ballerina bought two motorbikes and spent a year journeying across Europe, down through the Middle East and across the top of Africa, gathering recipes from the folk they met along the way – not because they wanted recipes but because the companionship they discovered in food became the unintended consequence of the trip.
The Olives Et Al team have been faithfully re-creating those recipes ever since, and have found many more, using traditional methods and top-notch ingredients from the best suppliers we can find and we’re still working with some of the people we met on that first journey as well as many more we’ve met on repeated trips back to old places and lots of new ones for nearly 30 years.
