Our GREAT TASTE AWARD WINNER 2021 The region around Mani, in the south of the Peloponnese, is a wild, beautiful region that is characterized by long, dry summers and mild winters. The terrain is very rocky due to the wild, omnipresent Taygetos Mountains that run through the whole of Mani. The olive trees literally grow on the rocks. As a result, most of the olive groves are laid out in terraces and are over 700 m above sea level. These facts are other important conditions that are responsible for the excellent quality of our extra virgin olive oil. Our olive groves are cared for without any artificial additives. We use 100% vintage and single origin Koroneiki olives for our olive oil. The Koroneiki olive is the most common oil-olive variety in Greece with a share of around 60%. Koroneiki olive oil is considered to be one of the best olive oils in the world, both in terms of taste and composition. The small, resilient Koroneiki olive is typical of the steep slopes of the Greek Peloponnese peninsula as well as of Crete. Because although the variety is otherwise easy to care for (it can withstand heat, but also frost down to -7 ° C), the trees do not like to stand in water and therefore cannot be artificially watered. This olive variety has an intense fragrance and the aroma is reminiscent of freshly cut grass, while the taste is artichoke, apple and banana notes.
