The alligator is distinguished from the crocodile by its wider snout and also by its color. The latter varies depending on the water in which the animal lives: green for waters loaded with algae, black for waters loaded with tannic acid. At 360 kg, the alligator has a relatively slow body, which does not, however, prevent it from performing short bursts of speed, particularly when it comes to catching prey.
