WHAT IS REAL PREMIUM PET FOOD?
The term "premium" appears to be ubiquitous when it comes to pet food. But what is really premium and where is this quality label only used - stop the shock - to deceive consumers? What should you pay attention to when buying? Below we have listed the most important characteristics of real premium pet food according to our high standards.

PREMIUM. I ALWAYS ONLY LISTEN TO PREMIUM.
THE KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF PREMIUM PET FOOD

1. Quality of the meat

It is well known that good dog and cat food should have a high meat content. Much more important than that, however, is the quality of the meat used.

A high proportion of lean meat indicates good food, both for dogs and cats. Therefore, always study the list of ingredients in detail. If you come across terms like "animal by-products," be careful. The harmless-sounding term usually hides inferior slaughterhouse waste.

2. The right nutrients

In addition to meat as an important source of protein, a balanced diet also includes plenty of fruit and vegetables. They provide important vitamins, minerals and fiber and thus make a decisive contribution to the health of your four-legged friend.

In dogs, meat can even be replaced with vegetable proteins as an alternative source of energy. Veggie raw materials can also optimally cover the nutritional needs of your furry friend.

3. Raw material quality

Meat is not just meat. From high-quality, food-grade muscle meat to cheap, low-quality slaughterhouse waste, everything is used in animal feed. A critical look at the composition is always advisable here.

Particular care should be taken with the term "animal by-products", which often refers to inferior slaughterhouse waste. The predicate "food quality" stands for a really high raw material quality. In a food-grade product, the individual raw materials are approved for human consumption.

4. Ingredients and Constituents

Even if grain is another important source of energy, a particularly high proportion of grain is not an indicator of good feed. Grain is cheap and is often only used to reduce production costs. This applies in particular to cat food: in contrast to dogs, velvet paws can only utilize the carbohydrates contained in it to a very small extent. Here you should pay attention to the type of grain: Rice and oats, for example, can be used well by dogs and cats.

A healthy diet should also avoid artificial flavors and sugar, as these are only used to enhance the taste of inferior food. (Sugar, in particular, can become a cause of many diseases, such as diabetes or dental problems.)

The natural and high-quality raw materials of a good dog and cat food offer a taste experience even without such additives.

WHY IS PREMIUM ALWAYS PREMIUM EXPENSIVE?
Premium products are of course also more expensive than conventional animal feed due to their high-quality ingredients - but for the well-being and health of our furry friends, it is worth spending a little more here.

Those who feed their pets healthily also usually save on veterinary costs in the long run. Because the unhealthy diet with conventional products usually leads to allergies or diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

In our article, we have listed the symptoms as a checklist as well as possible solutions for feed allergies.
