The historical roots of Carmignano wine are so remote that it can be reasonably considered one of the oldest red wines in Italy. In Carmignano, wine has been produced since Etruscan times. In the State Archive of Florence a contract dated “804” was found. It records how olive trees and vines were already cultivated at that time in Carmingano for the production of oil and wine.
