Handwoven shawl made of Peace Silk / Eri Silk Green

This soft and luxurious cloth is made of Eri silk. Besides Tussah silk, Eri silk from the northeastern state of Assam in India is also a peace silk. The Eri caterpillars are at home in Assam. The word Eri comes from “era” which means “castor oil” in Assamese. Because the caterpillars feed exclusively on the castor bean plant. In contrast to conventional silk processing, the caterpillars that spin the silk cocoons continue their life after metamorphosis as moths. This silk is in no way inferior to mulberry silk and convinces with its cuddly feel, the smooth matt shiny surface and the animal-friendly and fair processing. The design of the scarf is reminiscent of green mountains, blue rivers and golden yellow earth. A black border frames the picture of nature. The geometric elements were created using the block printing technique, in which carved blocks of wood are used to transfer the desired pattern to the textile surface. It is one of the traditional printing techniques in India. The yarn was spun by hand and processed into a scarf on hand looms. The weave is fine and noble. Traditional manufacturing methods are combined with a modern graphic design. This symbiosis makes this cloth a real work of art. Silk is also a very tear-resistant fiber that is durable. Not only does it give the scarf its matte sheen, but it also has the great property of temperature regulation, so the scarf can be worn in both summer and winter. Whether for a special occasion or in everyday life - this scarf is a real eye-catcher. Color green Material: 100% Organic Silk / Peace Silk / Eri Silk Dimensions: 56 x 200 cm Coloring: AZO - free dyes Care: Dry clean, do not bleach. The scarves come from the fair fashion label Aeshaane and have a distinctive look that combines traditional spinning and weaving techniques with modern geometric block print designs. Through her dedicated work, founder Neesha Amrish has managed to offer people from rural India long-term work and fair pay. Her work has been exhibited and celebrated at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, among others. Please note that the actual colors may differ slightly from the computer display. Since this is a natural product, small fiber knots and/or print irregularities can also occur. A handmade product is more likely than a machine-made product.
