Paul Karani is the of the producer of the Al Minlar lots, although he is better known as Reci, his African name and the name of his farm. He inherited the Reci farm when his father Steven Ngumi Tuguna died and runs it with his wife, who is the supervisor. They have a team of 3 people all year round but they hire more than 20 pickers for the harvest. The farm has about 2750 coffee trees that produce the SL28, Ruiru 11 and Batian varieties. Of all the quality controls he applies to his coffees it’s worth noting what he does after harvesting, when he makes another manual selection, and also after processing, as well as controlling the fermentation in the washing of the coffee.
