When selecting our local production partners, we value fair pay, safe working conditions and reasonable working hours. We work exclusively with small family businesses that have a maximum of 20 to 30 employees. They are exclusively adult and experienced artisans. Older people in particular, who can no longer work in agriculture, benefit from jobs in handicrafts, as they can use the skills they learned at an early age to earn money and pass on traditional manufacturing methods to the younger generation. They often told us how happy they were to be able to create something meaningful and earn a good living through this work. Since all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process hardly produces any greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure all of this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies. ➤The manufacturing process: From the raw materials to the finished wall decoration set For our wall decorations, the plant fibers are first cut into shape and dried by experienced artisans at our production partners in the Indonesian province of Central Java. Raffia is also often drilled into cords. They are then carefully braided into the desired shape. In total, the production of a wall decoration set with five parts takes just under three hours.
