Harissa, bio

Harissa stands for THE hot paprika spice mixture from North Africa, especially from Tunisia. To this day, the main exporters of this specialty were the Spaniards, who brought the hot peppers with them from the Caribbean almost 500 years ago and also cultivated them in their colony in Tunisia. Mixed with the well-known, typical, oriental spices such as cumin (cumin, seera) and coriander as well as salt, you had an absolutely wonderful, spicy mixture for all pot dishes, but also - if you had mixed it with olive oil - a paste for the daily flatbread spread butter on our bread, in North Africa even the children eat harissa paste on their bread for breakfast!
