The Lost Distillery Company - Auchnagie Vintage Selection, 46% 70cl Display Case

Auchnagie was one of several small farm distilleries in the Ballinluig area of Perthshire. All have been destroyed except Edradour and Glenturret which continue to flourish to this day. Auchnagie was founded by James Duff and was eventually purchased by John Dewar & Son who finally dismantled it in 1912 after they built Aberfeldy. Aroma: Sweet malt in the foreground, rapidly followed by fruity notes – tinned pears – with traces of spun honey. The sweet cereal now in the background as sweet biscuit. Water introduces hemp rope and wet cardboard, but still with a fruity top-note. Taste: Sweet to taste at bottled strength, with considerable spice across the tongue and a warming, medium-length finish. At reduced strength it is less sweet and less spicy, but remains fruity, with a trace of apple sponge and vanilla. A marriage of 100% vintage aged Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, no added colour, not chill filtered. A modern interpretation of the legendary Auchnagie Distillery.
