Ex-voto golden piadoso heart

Characteristic of Mexican religious art, ex-votos (milagros) are used either independently or as decorations for more elaborate pieces to make a wish or to thank for a wish granted. These ex-votos are made of zamac (a mixture of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper) melted and cast in a mold made by hand. Widespread in Mexico and Latin America, it is very difficult to find artisan manufacturers who jealously preserve their methods and are located in remote areas of Mexico.
